My Favorite Things | Vol 1- 12 October 2012

A new feature I want to bring to the blog is sharing my favorite posts from the week. I subscribe to over 350 blogs, and since January 31, 2009–are you ready for this?–I have read a total of 79,091 posts. Insane. That’s a lot of words.

To stay true to my desire to share inspiration, knowledge and things that make you think–I’ll be posting some of my favorites.  (And, quite honestly, pretty products that I’m swooning over.)

Since this is my first installment, it may include posts from weeks, months, maybe years ago that I’ve come across on the world wide web. I would love for you, in turn, to leave a comment with your favorite posts that you’ve found online. Recipes? Inspirational stories? Personal anecdotes? Please share!

1. I’m Excited About Turning 30, and Here’s Why – Seeing as I’ll turn 30 at my next birthday, this article spoke to me.

“For me, success is not about the end goal or even about the journey. To me, success is a state of mind. It’s about the optimism and faith you have in yourself. It’s about the resilience you bring to life’s challenges. And most of all, success is about quietly tuning into who you are and what you really want, and then taking consistent steps towards those goals.”

2. The Power of Introverts. Susan Cain’s Manifesto.

“The universal longing for heaven is not about immortality so much as the wish for a world in which everyone is always kind.”

If you are an introvert, or an extrovert who would like to understand introverts, please spend some time watching this TED talk.

3. How to make space for quality to show up in your life. “Letting go makes way for something closer to your truth…which is always more beautiful. Always.” Amen. Time to make some more space in my life.

4. How to wait less.

  1. Slow down. Rushing means you miss what’s right here.
  2. Pay attention. Look at what’s around you right now. Look at yourself, and how great you are. If it doesn’t seem great, look closer.
  3. Applaud.
5. Time Saving Tips. On the Computer. At home. In the kitchen.
6. The Unplugged Wedding.   Yes. Yes. Yes. Mary, thank you for this inspiration!
7. The reason I’m now addicted to guacamole. It all started with Emily’s post.
8. Not so Patiently waiting for these beauties to arrive.
9. Doesn’t this look extremely cozy? I think this brisk fall with flurries is making me think of s.n.o.w.
10.  This pretty ring would be a great gift for me. So glad pearls are my birthstone. *hint hint* 😉
