welcome

A Midwest-living writer, photographer, and cancer researcher who is raising her children in the Wisconsin Driftless with her husband by her side. A chronicle of our adventures and learnings of country living, parenthood and this precious life.

One year later {Driftless Living Photography}

One year ago tonight, I sat with nervous hands as I typed out my first post here on this blog.

I could have never dreamed this blog and my budding photography business would get to document everything it has in the past year.

From talking gibberish with my grandma, to holiday card photo sessions, to newborns, to toddlers, to 4 month olds, to senior portraits, to family portraits on a farm, to faux senior portraits, and to all of the sporting events in between…I can’t thank all of you enough for supporting me, cheering me on from the other side of the computer.

The thing I love about this blog is that I have a time stamp documenting my progression through photography and life. Would I as vividly remember the day I thought we might lose Thunder to old age? I’m not sure…but I’m so glad I have that memory saved. And I’ve been able to share my Team In Training triumphs. I’ve captured nature in its untouched beauty and urban sessions in Madison {San Fran is coming soon}.

Life has happened. I graduated with my Masters, traveled all over the country {from NYC  to San Francisco}, and biked another 100 miles around Lake Tahoe. And in the end, there is no other place that I would rather call home.

As life and photography take me in new directions, I look forward with an eager heart and open mind, and look back with sweet nostalgia. Thank you, Driftless Living, for showing me that my dreams can come true…I just need to go out there and live it.
