Leaving on a jet plane…

A year ago at this time I was packing my bags for Israel and Egypt. I would be traveling with my Aunt Carol and people from her hometown halfway across the globe to see the Bible brought to life. I have to say, I am so glad I went last year. For one, I would not want to be heading to Egypt right now. Secondly, I can’t imagine going now. This might not make sense, but bear with me… I truly believe that circumstances and life events led me to need to go to Israel last year. Not just want, but need to go. This year? I don’t know if Israel would have had the same impact on me.

Me in the Negev Wilderness

{I absolutely loved how hard core and physically exhausting our trip to Israel & Egypt was.}

The hike up to the top of Mount Sinai (in Egypt) was tough. But oh so worth it.

I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again, 2010 and thus far into 2011 have been the best times of my life. Feeling clarity, a sense of being, a purpose in life.

And I think that’s in large part due to my experience in Israel, but also due to really realizing how important it is to have a work-life-school balance. I admit, I want to be the best at what I do. I’m an achiever. I want to make myself and my family proud. But, at the end of the day, I want a life outside of work. I want a family, friends and pets that remember who I am.

So this year…as I pack my bags and leave on a jet plane…I will be heading to Cancun with my Aunt Carol to enjoy a little R&R. To recharge, warm up, and get as much Vitamin D as my body needs.

I plan on there being some of this…

Nights on the beach

Quite a bit of this…

{Laughing with my Aunt Carol}

I hope every night has a beautiful sunset like this…

and maybe we’ll have a chance to do a little fishing, too.

It’ll be fun to reflect on all that has transpired in the past year and dream of the future.

And I’ll be sure to take lots and lots of photos to document the memories!
